Program
This 21 day journey consists of meditation, journaling, learning principles of effective communication, goal-setting, sustainability, and wilderness skills. We teach our students various methods, ranging from basic to advanced level of skill in areas such as: how to build shelter, prepare and purify food and water, maintain safety in the wild, make fire, navigate through the wilderness, and identify wildlife. While our students cultivate many practical skills useful for successfully navigating backcountry expeditions, our focus is equipping our students with the confidence and life skills necessary to successfully navigate through their lives.
The wilderness offers us the opportunity to develop and master skills in self-reliance, accountability, decision-making, responsibility, leadership and communication. Our discovery guides also introduce students to yoga practice, martial arts, and utilizing mantra. We also encourage creative pursuits in the field such as music and visual arts as a means of achieving our developmental goals and outcomes.
At Crossroads Discovery, participants learn to optimize use of external resources found in their gear and in the natural world around them - away from the ample and sometimes excess comforts found in modern technology. This invites them to discover the vast resources and strength within themselves and draw from the inspiring relationships with our Life Coaches and other students as we share in this uniquely rich experience together.
